Our Story: The Heart Behind Tulbagh Tiny Homes

Tulbagh Tiny Homes is more than just a place to stay—it's the realisation of a long-held family dream.

We are Hylton and Natja, along with our two wonderful kids and three furry, four-legged companions. Like many, we dreamed of an escape from the relentless pace of city life, a place where we could truly unwind and reconnect with nature.

That dream became a reality in 2025 when we discovered this incredible piece of land across the Watervals River from Uitspan Retreat. We immediately fell in love with the untouched beauty, the spectacular mountains, and the sense of absolute peace. It was the perfect spot to create something special—a place that quickly became our family's favourite place to hang out.

We were lucky enough to acquire Fonteinhuisie, an existing cottage with incredible potential. We poured our hearts into enhancing it, adding touches like the cozy fireplace and the relaxing wood-fired hot tub, to ensure it offers the ultimate modern comfort alongside its rustic charm.

Our goal is to offer beautiful, comfortable, and sustainable little escapes where you can switch off completely, breathe the fresh mountain air, and make lasting memories. We're excited to grow our collection of tiny homes and welcome you to experience the magic of the Tulbagh Valley for yourself.
